Last Four Miles
Friends of the Parks
Friends of the Parks’ Last Four Miles (L4M) is an advocacy initiative to complete Chicago's lakefront park system. As part of this initiative, the Friends seek to inspire, equip, and mobilize groups of community organizers and advocates for nature-based solutions along Chicago's lakefront with a focus on the far southeast and far northeast neighborhoods that lack connected public parks and paths that serve as a buffer to lakeshore erosion. With increased high lake levels and more frequent and severe storms, communities in Rogers Park, Edgewater, and South Shore are showing more interest in a plan that would protect them and relieve their financial responsibility for damage from the lake.
